Wooden Horse
Wooden horse carry me
Steady past the hour
When childhood haunts me,
Say nothing, I beg you
For in silence will I pass
Round like the infant
I once was from hand to hand
Shushhhhed at a stranger’s breast.
(Poem by Persephone Abbott)
